David McRary,
Photographer

David McRary, Photographer who works out of his studio in Burnsville, North Carolina.

David grew up in the countryside of the NC piedmont.  His father took him hunting and fishing often and it was during these forays into nature that he developed my love for natural beauty.

After David got his first camera he experienced the passion of using the camera as an extension of himself.  Shapes and forms of rocks and water, leaves and flowers all added to the palate of composition.  He has always used ambient (natural) light and saturation of color film to compose images that emote the unique beauty of our world.

David McRary

North Carolina is David McRary’s native home state.  He has spent over 30 years recording images from this region’s limitless reservoir of beauty, from the mountains to the sea.

His photo career began when he aquired his first camera while serving in the US Navy. It was during this time that he became aquainted with Charleston, South Carolina and the surrounding coastal low country.

When he moved to the NC mountains in the late seventies, he began his career as a fine art photographer producing Cibachrome prints and competing in artists competitions and exhibtis throughout the Southeast. Around 2009 David shifted from film to digital recording media. Currently he uses Canon professional equipment and Epson professional printers.  His color prints have won numerous awards and have been collected by museum, corporate, and private interests.

He conducts photography workshops by appointment in the western NC mountains where he has his studio.
