Jan Elmore, Mixed Media Artist

Jan Elmore, Mixed Media Artist in Keswick, Virginia, creates wood framed mirrors and sculptures crafted from hardwoods, painted wood, metals, stucco, and canvas.

Many of the materials she uses are off-cuts and scraps from local woodworkers, instrument makers, and recycling enterprises. Small, left-over pieces of wood are shaped into blades or buttons and scraps of copper are filed and hammered, all to be used as elements that add texture and dimension to her work.

By using a variety of media and employing multiple design formats, Elmore rescues materials destined for the landfill and re-purposes them through work that gives new life to the elements.

Jan Elmore

Jan Elmore creates multi-media sculpture, paintings, and wood framed mirrors inspired by nature. From flowers and leaves, to forests, deserts, and animals, inspire her design collection of framed mirrors. Another includes contemporary, abstract compositions of domestic hardwoods with exotic wood accents.

Her sculpture group ranges from free-standing carvings and assemblages to wall mounted compilations of painted canvases with embellishments of wood, fibers, and metal. These pieces are often inspired by tribal cultures and universal motifs.
