Art Koch and his wife reside in the southeastern United States. He has a great love and joy for travel. Art has been to 41 countries at least once, and spends several weeks of the year traveling to capture underwater images. He has over sixteen years of experience in diving and underwater photography. Traveling from Fiji to Costa Rica, Tahiti to Galapagos Islands, and Belize to Indonesia.
He became more serious about underwater photography around 2004 to 2005. Then in early 2007, Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the team responsible for creating an “ocean themed” web-portal for the Smithsonian’s exhibit, “The Ocean Hall” requested use of one of his images. At this point he started to focus on his images and how to present the underwater environment as an art form. His published work has not only appeared with the Smithsonian, but also with the Office of Education & the Environment – California Environmental Protection Agency, winning numerous photography awards and on the walls of fans around the world.
Art earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Operations Management from Michigan State University.
He currently owns The Azul Ocean, LLC that focuses on marketing his underwater photography and building awareness to the threats to our oceans. www.theazulocean.com
Art is an exhibiting member of Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild.
